Today I've got something exciting for you guys - the Rainbow Honey Holiday Collection!
I saw some preliminary swatches of this collection on some other blogs and knew I had to have it ASAP.
I preordered this set as soon as it came out and it arrived lightning-fast! Then I let it sit for a few days because I've had bronchitis and just not been able to do anything. I'm finally feeling better, after some much-needed bed rest and time off work, and I'm here to bring you swatches and a review!
This collection truly wowed me and I hope it will leave you feeling the same magic.
The collection includes four gorgeous lacquers:
Spirit of Wonder, Annual Emotion, Gilded Angel, and Glittering Rapture.
(with names like those, how could I resist? So FESTIVE!)
Now on to the swatches...check them out after the jump!
Formula wise, I would have to say that each and every one of these has the best formula I've EVER seen from Rainbow Honey. Annual Emotion and Gilded Angel contain mixing balls and I feel that really helps with the consistency. Glittering Rapture was PERFECT even though it was a glitter formula and Rainbow Honey's glitters have been much thicker in the past. The only one I had any issues with was Spirit of Wonder, I just found it a bit streaky but that was fixed with multiple coats. Whites are finicky.
First up is Gilded Angel...and this one really took my breath away. Do you see that extra depth, the deeper dimension it has? THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S HOLO, Y'ALL. This is a gorgeous, easily-flowing gold lacquer with scattered holographic particles that make it really shine. This photo is without topcoat - I usually don't wear topcoat over anything holo anyways. Two coats here, beautiful formula. Pardon my messy cleanup - these were quick and dirty swatches!
"Formulated with coated aluminum flakes for a true metallic effect, this is a chromatic and lustrous gold lacquer with a subtle holographic sparkle" - Rainbow Honey
Gilded Angel with the Glittering Rapture glitter on top. Go ahead. Enlarge this. I'll wait. *drools*
"Rich reds and golds in glitters, flakes, and special effect pigments make up this polish; perfect alone or over a metallic shade." -Rainbow Honey
Then there's Annual Emotion. I kind of squeaked with delight when I saw this one. It's a high-shine, glimmering silver holo FOIL. I don't know how it could get any better than this. The formula was like butter and it was really shiny and wonderful. This is two coats without topcoat - and isn't it gorgeous? I love the subtle flame of the holographic particles shining through on this one. This photo was taken with flash, but even in low light, I could see the effect. Truly beautiful.

Glittering Rapture over Annual Emotion freaked out my camera with its sparkle. So here's a macro shot...
ENLARGE THIS NOW. You can see the gold and red particles and glitters in Glittering Rapture, and they go perfectly with the silver, holo foil goodness of Annual Emotion. Glittering Rapture is truly impressive, it's festive without being too over-the-top. The formula on it is buttery and wonderful and all of the glitters lay beautifully flat.
The final piece of the collection was Spirit of Wonder. Spirit of Wonder is a white creme with different colored blue glitters suspended throughout - and some of them are holographic glitters, giving it even more sparkle! If the swatch of this looks rough, it's my fault and not the polish. Whites just don't look good on me. This was streaky on the first coat as most white polishes are, but it really evened out with the second coat. This one dries just the tiniest bit bumpy due to the glitters, so topcoat would be optimal. This is two coats without. It's a beautiful polish that really embodies the spirit of the winter season for me.
"A bright winter white with hidden blue shimmer and a dusting of snow; a mix of blue and silver holographic glitters make this polish a joy to wear." -Rainbow Honey
In conclusion, the Rainbow Honey Holiday Collection really knocked it out of the park for me. Four beautiful lacquers that really embody the magic and joy of the holiday season! My favorites were Annual Emotion and Gilded Angel - but I'm a sucker for anything holographic! In addition, I really just need to call out the formula on these. It's not the thicker glitter formula we've seen from Rainbow Honey, it's thin, flows perfectly over the nail, and affords a lot of control. Definitely something to write home about.
Rainbow Honey, you've outdone yourself.
Rainbow Honey's Holiday Collection can be purchased individually or in the full set here.
The 15ml sizes are $10 each and the set is $40 - but it comes packaged beautifully in a gift box with ribbon!
Those are awesome! My favorites are the glitter and the white, but red/gold and blue/white/silver are my favorite holiday combinations anyway so I'm probably biased. :) And the RH post on facebook with that glitter over black? Swoon.
ReplyDeleteRIGHT?! As soon as I saw even preliminary swatches I knew I had to have these. I love red/gold too! All of these are so gorgeous and you bet I'll be wearing them in some combination for the upcoming holidays!
DeleteI actually just made a Rainbow Honey purchase today, and I added in the Annual Emotion. I've been tempted for a while, but the free shipping really made all the difference for me. After I saw your swatches, I know I didn't go wrong. I love the holo in those polishes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Becca! I'm glad you made a purchase from them! Be sure to show us what you got! Annual Emotion is absolutely gorgeous, it seriously made me go WOW! The free shipping was such a great bonus too, I agree!
DeleteEeek! The gold and silver are gorgeous! Glad you're starting to recover. :)
